My Texture People
My texture people is an ongoing self directed project. It's partly inspired by Julian Opie and partly by my interest in textures. I take an old portrait photo and "texturise" it using any interesting images of textures I come across (paper, card, cloth, wood, stone) that suit the image. Similarly to Opie's work I try and keep a lot of the resemblance to the actual person but draw the line at facial features.
As it turns out, it's amazing how recognizable people still are without any eyes, noses or mouths!
